Ferro chrome

Ferrochrome produced worldwide is used in manufacturing stainless steel. Ferrochrome is also used when more chromium is needed to be added to carbon steel. High carbon ferrochrome is used in the manufacturing of ball-bearing steels, tool steels as well as other alloy steels.

Description

Ferro Chrome (FeCr) is an alloy of chromium and iron containing between 50% and 70% chromium. The ferro chrome is produced by electric arc melting of chromite, an iron magnesium chromium oxide and the most important chromium ore.Ferrochrome, or Ferrochromium is a type of ferroalloy, that is, an alloy between chromium and iron, generally containing 50% to 70% chromium by weight. Ferrochrome is produced by electric arc carbothermic reduction of chromite.
